Grand Marshal Brian E. McCabe waved to the crowd as he walked down Montgomery Street on Sunday, March 15, leading Orange County's largest St. Patrick's Day celebration through the streets of Goshen for the 49th consecutive year.

The Mid-Hudson St. Patrick's Parade, organized by the Mid-Hudson St. Patrick's Parade Committee and described as a beloved regional tradition since 1979, drew hundreds of residents and visitors from across Orange County to Main Street and Montgomery Street, filling both with music, cheers, and a sea of green.

The procession brought together a wide cross-section of community institutions and performers. The Orange County Ancient Order of Hibernians Pipes and Drum band played along the route while the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Orange County marched down Montgomery Street. The Orange County Sheriff's Department color guard stepped through the same stretch, and the Middletown Fire Department also took part in the family-oriented event.

Among the performers was the jazz orchestra Saints of Swing, whose member Dale captured the spirit shared by many participants. "It's meaningful because we enjoy being involved in all parades," Dale said. "This is a special day, St. Patrick's Day. We just love playing parades."

That sentiment extended well beyond the musicians. As one parade participant put it plainly: "We just want people to have a good time."

As bands played and dancers performed along the route, the parade once again served as the unofficial start of spring for Orange County, honoring Saint Patrick while showcasing Irish culture and community pride. For the Mid-Hudson St. Patrick's Parade Committee, the 50th edition is now one year away.
