Kiwanis Club of Middletown Hosts 71st Pancake Day at Middletown High School
Kiwanis Club of Middletown will host its 71st Pancake Day at Middletown High School to raise funds for local charities and children's programs.

The Kiwanis Club of Middletown will stage its 71st annual Pancake Day on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Middletown High School, 30 Gardner Ave. Extension. The all-you-can-eat breakfast is a longstanding community fundraiser that channels proceeds into local charities and programs serving children.
Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 5–10, and free for children 4 and under. Tickets may be purchased from any Middletown Kiwanian or at the door on the day of the event. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes with sausage, eggs cooked to order, applesauce, orange juice, milk, coffee and tea. Visitors should also expect a bake sale and a raffle with a variety of prizes to supplement fundraising.
Organizers say the event supports a roster of local partners. Proceeds will benefit the Guild of St. Margaret Soup Kitchen, Adopt-a-Family with the Salvation Army, Middletown YMCA, Braeside Camp, Kamp Kiwanis summer camp for kids, and a program that provides dictionaries to third graders in Middletown. Barbara Chumard, a Kiwanis Club of Middletown member, noted the club’s focus on literacy and youngsters: “serving the children of the world, one child and one community at a time,” and added, “Some of the children have told Kiwanians that it is the first book they ever owned.”
The Pancake Day series traces to 1954 and has been held each year except 2020, when it was suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The club’s publicity materials promise strong turnout, with a press release declaring, “Pancake Day promises to be bigger and better than ever!” and regional coverage saying the club “will flip thousands of pancakes” when it hosts the event.
Sue Scott and Rick Scott are identified as chairpersons for the 2026 Pancake Day; a published photo shows them at the 67th Pancake Day. The Kiwanis organization traces its name to a Native American expression meaning “we share our talents,” according to the Kiwanis website.
For residents, Pancake Day is more than a breakfast; it is a predictable revenue source for local social services and youth programs that rely on volunteer-run events. Attendance helps sustain small, targeted grants and in-kind support for food programs, camps and school initiatives in Orange County. The event offers a practical way for neighbors to convert a Saturday morning into civic support - buy a ticket, bring the family, and fund programs that serve local children throughout the year.
