Newburgh Farmers Market Moves Indoors, Expands Winter Offerings and Programs
The Newburgh Farmers Market has opened its winter season inside the new Ritz Theater Stagehouse, running Saturdays through April 25 with expanded food vendors, music, and a new loyalty program. The move brings consistent access to fresh food and community programming during cold months, an important local resource for nutrition, small business support, and social connection in Orange County.

The Newburgh Farmers Market began its winter season on Saturday, December 6, inside the newly opened Ritz Theater Stagehouse at 100 Ann Street and will operate each Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM through April 25. The indoor location provides a stable, climate controlled setting for vendors and shoppers during the cold months, and the expanded lineup adds prepared food, hot beverages, and live music to the market experience.
Shoppers will find a range of farm fresh vegetables, specialty mushrooms, baked goods, local cheese, artisanal and specialty foods, and small batch crafts. New food offerings include a crepes stand and made to order old school Bronx style pizza, alongside hot drinks intended to keep market goers comfortable on winter mornings. Weekly programming and live performances aim to create a welcoming community space for people to gather, eat, and connect while supporting local producers.
Organizers have launched a Winter Harvest Card to encourage regular attendance. Visitors receive a card that is stamped each week they attend. Collect 15 or more stamps during the season to be entered into a raffle prize drawing at the end of the market run. The program is designed to reward consistent support for local farms and makers and to build habits of shopping locally through the winter months.
The market is stewarded by Common Ground Farm and hosted at Safe Harbors of the Hudson. It is participating in the second annual Frost Fest celebration led by the Newburgh Downtown District Alliance during the first three Saturdays of December. The market’s mission states a commitment to feeding and engaging the Newburgh community, supporting local farms and businesses, and creating a more just food system.
For Orange County residents, the market’s indoor winter season has practical public health and equity implications. Reliable access to fresh produce during winter can support healthier diets and help manage diet related chronic conditions. The market also funnels economic activity to small producers and creates a community gathering point that can reduce social isolation during colder months. As municipalities and funders consider ways to strengthen local food infrastructure, the Newburgh Farmers Market offers a model of seasonal continuity, community centered programming, and partnerships that aim to broaden access to healthy, locally produced food.
