Port Jervis Announces Santa Tour, Stops at Fire Stations and Promenade

The City of Port Jervis will stage a Santa Tour on Saturday, December 20, with a mobile float visiting multiple neighborhood stops and making planned appearances at fire stations and the downtown Promenade. Organizers expect the event to draw families and residents to downtown and neighborhood hubs for a late afternoon celebration.

The announced schedule lists stops at Engine 5 Fire Station, 143 W. Main St., at 1:25 p.m., Orange Street Fire Station, 25 to 27 Orange St., at 2:05 p.m., and Engine 4, 31 Owen St., at 2:45 p.m. The tour will continue at Barclay Street City Park at 3:15 p.m., and conclude with a visit to the Promenade at Front Street at 4:00 p.m. Local firefighters will host the station stops, and Santa will hand out hot chocolate and candy canes at the scheduled appearances.

The event is coordinated by the City of Port Jervis in partnership with the Port Jervis Police Department and PBA, the Port Jervis Fire Department, and the Outdoor Club of Port Jervis. City officials say the collaboration is intended to provide a safe, orderly route while increasing community visibility for first responders and civic groups. Police and fire personnel will be on site at host locations to manage crowd flow and address any safety needs.

For residents, the tour offers a low cost, accessible holiday opportunity within walking distance for many neighborhoods, and a focal point for downtown foot traffic during the holiday shopping period. The Promenade stop at 4:00 p.m. is likely to concentrate visitors in the commercial center, which may influence short term parking availability and pedestrian congestion along Front Street. Families are advised to plan for limited parking near host sites and to follow direction from on scene personnel.
