Veterans Memorial Park on Pike Street, the same Orange Square ground where Port Jervis has honored its war dead since an 1886 Civil War monument dedication, will host the city's No Kings rally this Saturday, March 28, from noon to 2 p.m. Port Jervis is one piece of a national mobilization that organizers say spans more than 3,000 communities, making it the largest single-day protest effort in American history.

The March 28 demonstrations are a coordinated effort organized nationally by groups including Indivisible, the 50501 Movement, and the AFL-CIO. Previous No Kings actions drew five million participants in June 2025 and seven million in October 2025. The Port Jervis event is billed by local organizers as the third major round of the movement.

The rally is organized by a grassroots group of residents from Port Jervis and surrounding communities. Organizers described it as "a peaceful rally that will highlight the increasingly authoritarian actions of the current administration and the need to defend our democracy and the rule of law."

The speaker lineup spans several sectors of the region's civic life. U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Aaron Stark is among those scheduled to address the crowd, alongside Wilmer Jimenez of Rural & Migrant Ministries and Cindy-Lee Dorcelly, president of the Middletown NAACP. Jeremy Shannon, a school board member, and Julie Takatsch, RN, are also on the program, as is Pastor Lena Warren of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Organizers indicated additional speakers will appear beyond those named.

Guitarist and singer Robert Tellefsen and The Lucky Ones will perform at the rally.

Orange Square Veterans Memorial Park sits at the center of Port Jervis's Uptown neighborhood, at Pike and Broome Streets, a civic anchor the city has long used for public ceremony. Nationally, the 3,000-event count surpasses every U.S. congressional district, with organizers saying new locations continue to be added.
