Rye Defeats Goshen 62-47, Advances to NYSPHSAA Regional Final
Rye built a 29-point third-quarter lead to knock Goshen out of the state tournament 62-47, punching a ticket to the NYSPHSAA regional final.

Rye High School's basketball program is one step closer to a state title after dismantling Goshen 62-47 in a NYSPHSAA subregional contest Tuesday, with a third-quarter performance that turned a competitive game into a rout.
Rye's balanced attack and stifling defense combined to push the lead to 29 points in the third quarter, effectively ending Goshen's season before the final buzzer sounded. The Garnets held on through a late Goshen surge to close out the 15-point victory and advance to the regional final.
Goshen's Jimmy Kelly gave the Gladiators a credible threat, finishing with 18 points, but the effort wasn't enough to overcome Rye's suffocating defensive performance. Even with Kelly producing at that level, Goshen could not claw back from the deficit Rye had constructed through three quarters of dominant basketball.

The win sends Rye to the NYSPHSAA regional final, where the Garnets will face their next test in the state tournament bracket. Goshen, meanwhile, ends its postseason run after a resilient late push that trimmed the margin but never seriously threatened the outcome.
