Alexandria routs Fergus Falls 88-49, completes season sweep, improves to 16-5
Alexandria's early 26-3 surge and Mason Witt's six made 3-pointers powered an 88-49 rout of Fergus Falls, completing the season sweep and improving Alexandria to 16-5.

Alexandria opened with a crushing burst and never looked back, racing to a 26-3 advantage before Fergus Falls converted its first field goal in the middle of the opening half en route to an 88-49 victory at Alexandria Area High School on Tuesday, Feb. 17. The win completed a season sweep of the Otters, moved Alexandria to 16-5 overall and 13-1 in Central Lakes Conference play, and marked the Cardinals' 12th victory in their last 14 games dating to Jan. 6.
The Cardinals erupted out of the gate with a 9-0 run that included seven quick points from returning starter Talan Witt, setting the tone for a first half in which Alexandria poured it on. Alexandria sank nine 3-pointers in the first nine-and-a-half minutes and built a 49-22 lead at the break, a barrage that left Fergus Falls scrambling to recover in the second half.
Gavin Roderick led the scoring with 25 points while hitting four 3-pointers and finishing around 56 percent from the field; he also dished four assists and reached the 1,000 career points milestone during the game. Mason Witt added 24 points, knocking down six long-range bombs and going 6-for-11 from beyond the arc. Talan Witt finished with 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting and contributed three assists, while Miles Gary supplied a near double-double with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Alexandria controlled the glass 35-28 and converted its hot shooting into fewer second-chance opportunities for Fergus Falls. The Otters committed 18 turnovers, a figure that fed fast-break points and allowed the Cardinals to maintain margin through the second half and close out the 39-point win.
Fergus Falls was paced by Eston Bethel, who scored 19 points and recorded three assists, and Jacob Jenc, who finished with 13 points and six rebounds and was credited with the Otters' first made field goal in the contest. Nolan Felstul is listed with double-digit scoring in available box summaries, while Micah Johnson logged four points and Isaac Maack scored two. Fergus Falls falls to 8-15 overall and 6-9 in conference play.

Alexandria will head to Brainerd for a Central Lakes matchup on Thursday, Feb. 19, with a 7:15 p.m. start listed. Fergus Falls is scheduled to play Sauk Rapids-Rice on Thursday; start time details vary across posted schedules and remain to be finalized. The Cardinals' dominant shooting night, highlighted by Mason Witt's six triples and Roderick's milestone, positions Alexandria as a clear conference contender down the stretch.
