Alexandria woman injured in two vehicle crash on Highway 29
A two vehicle collision on Highway 29 near Parkers Prairie on December 20 injured a 33 year old Alexandria woman, who was taken to Alomere Health with non life threatening injuries. The crash highlights traffic safety concerns for drivers making left turns from the shoulder and underscores the role of local emergency responders.

A two vehicle crash on Highway 29 near Parkers Prairie on Saturday morning left a 33 year old Alexandria woman with non life threatening injuries, law enforcement records show. The Minnesota State Patrol reported the collision occurred at about 9 20 a.m. on December 20 when the Alexandria driver, identified as Shaneece Scott Holland, was stopped on the southbound shoulder and attempting a left turn.
The patrol reported that Holland was struck by a southbound Nissan Murano driven by 62 year old David Lloyd George of Eagle Bend. Holland sustained injuries that were described as non life threatening and was taken to Alomere Health in Alexandria for treatment. George was not injured. Road conditions at the time were dry and both drivers were wearing seat belts, the report noted.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office was among the responding agencies, along with Parkers Prairie Ambulance and the Parkers Prairie Fire Department. Local emergency crews cleared the scene following the initial response and medical transport.
For residents who use Highway 29 for commuting, school travel, and local commerce, the crash is a reminder of the potential hazards at locations where drivers use the shoulder to prepare for turning maneuvers. The combination of a stopped vehicle on the shoulder and a vehicle continuing in the lane can produce sudden conflicts for southbound traffic, particularly on rural stretches where speed differentials can be significant.
While investigators did not cite inclement weather or seat belt failure as factors in this incident, the occurrence will likely draw attention from traffic safety advocates and county officials monitoring crash patterns on state routes. Drivers in Otter Tail County who travel Highway 29 may see continued emphasis on safe turning practices and shoulder use in community safety conversations.
This is a staff report based on the Minnesota State Patrol crash report.
