Battle Lake Students Earn 19 Awards at Minnesota BPA State Conference
Battle Lake sent 23 students to the Minnesota BPA State Leadership Conference, winning 19 awards and sending 11 qualifiers to nationals in Nashville.
Twenty-three students from Battle Lake Schools competed at the Minnesota Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference, securing 19 awards and earning 11 spots at the national BPA event in Nashville.
The state showing capped a strong competitive run for Battle Lake's BPA program. The path to the state conference began January 22 at the BPA Region 7 Leadership Conference, where 40 Battle Lake students collectively brought home 47 awards, including nine first-place and 12 second-place finishes. Battle Lake Public Schools reported that 24 students placed in multiple categories at regionals and advanced to the State Leadership Competition. "What an incredible showing for Battle Lake BPA!" the district wrote in a January 27 post celebrating the regional results.
At the state level, that momentum continued. The 23 Battle Lake students who competed secured 19 total awards, and 11 of those competitors qualified to represent the school at the national BPA conference in Nashville.

Business Professionals of America is a student organization that prepares high school and middle school students for careers in business and information technology through competitive events in areas ranging from finance to digital communications. For a district the size of Battle Lake, fielding 40 competitors at the regional level and advancing more than half of them to state reflects a deep bench within the program.
The school noted the results as a reflection of student dedication and leadership. With 11 students now bound for Nashville, Battle Lake's BPA program will carry Otter Tail County representation to the national stage.
