Fergus Falls Chamber welcomes Tuscany Italian Restaurant with ribbon-cutting
Tuscany Italian Restaurant opened on Frontier Drive with chamber backing, and its second Minnesota location is already in motion as Fergus Falls tests a new interstate dining stop.

The first real test for Tuscany Italian Restaurant in Fergus Falls was not the ribbon, but the traffic. By the time the Fergus Falls Area Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon on April 30, the restaurant had already been open for two weeks at 604 Frontier Drive, in the old Pizza Ranch building near the interstate.
That location gives the opening a bigger meaning than a single new menu. Frontier Drive is one of the city’s visible commercial corridors, and putting a full-service Italian restaurant there signals confidence that Fergus Falls can support more dining options for both local families and travelers passing through Otter Tail County. The chamber marked the opening as a business milestone, and even presented Tuscany with its symbolic first dollar of profit, a gesture that fit a city where new ventures are still treated as community events.

Chamber President Lisa Workman made clear what kind of place the organization thinks Tuscany can become. She described it as a destination and said the food, sauces and fresh pasta make it a place to come hungry. That kind of support matters in a city the size of Fergus Falls, which had 14,119 residents in the 2020 census, within Otter Tail County’s 60,081. In a market that size, a restaurant does not just compete for meals. It competes for routine, habit and word-of-mouth.
The opening also fits a broader local pattern. Fergus Falls has long promoted itself as a regional center, and the City of Fergus Falls says it was chartered as a village on March 1, 1872, later celebrating its sesquicentennial in 2022. Visit Fergus Falls describes the city as a destination for shopping, entertainment, culture, lodging and outdoor recreation, a mix that depends on businesses like Tuscany to keep visitors in town long enough to spend money beyond a quick fuel stop.

Tuscany’s phone number is listed as (817) 779-0547, and plans for a second location in Alexandria are already in motion, suggesting the Fergus Falls restaurant is part of a larger expansion strategy rather than a one-off gamble. The chamber event ended with attendees sampling some of the restaurant’s favorite dishes, a taste test that now becomes the real measure of success: steady lunch and dinner traffic, repeat customers, and enough momentum to turn a former chain-site space into a lasting part of Frontier Drive’s business mix.
