FrostByte IT Opens in Perham, Bringing Computer Repair and Network Services to Area
Jordan Walz, a Lake Park High School grad who once dismantled every gadget in his parents' house, has launched FrostByte IT in Perham.

Jordan Walz spent his childhood taking apart everything he could find in his parents' house, driven by a need to understand how technology worked. His parents had one rule: put it all back together, in working order. That early discipline now anchors FrostByte IT, the Perham-based tech startup Walz recently launched to serve both homeowners and local businesses across the area.
The company offers computer repair, smart device connection, waiting room billboards, server swaps and network management. On the residential side, Walz fixes slow or malfunctioning computers and connects smart devices including thermostats, lights and security systems to a cellphone. Wi-Fi dead zones are also on his list. "If there was an issue with WiFi in a house where it is not reaching where it is supposed to, I can help fix that," he said.
For businesses, the pitch goes deeper. FrostByte IT provides fully managed routers and switches, giving Walz visibility into a client's entire network. "We're able to actually see into the network and see what's going on," he said. "If somebody calls and says, hey there's an issue, we can pinpoint it right away." He can also identify and resolve network slowdowns before a business's own customers notice anything is wrong.
One of the more distinctive services is the waiting room billboard product, which places local digital advertising devices in healthcare offices and other service waiting areas. The offering positions FrostByte IT not just as a repair shop but as a small-scale digital media platform for Perham-area businesses.
Walz graduated from Lake Park High School in 2007, then took IT classes before landing a job at a Detroit Lakes business specializing in computer repair and home audio connectivity. He later founded Walz Snow Removal, a seasonal business that stayed profitable enough to keep running, though it never pulled him away from technology. Between snow seasons, he worked as an electrician for a local company and logged time in research and development at a local communications company.
FrostByte IT currently operates out of Walz's home office. Reach him at (218) 234-6179 or info@frostbyteitmn.com.
