Naked on a loft balcony and yelling incoherently, 18-year-old Synceer Kelz Lewis of Pleasant Hill, Iowa had already hurled a large circular mirror and a fake plant into the living room below before Otter Tail County deputies made it up the stairs to reach him.

The incident unfolded Sunday at an Airbnb rental in Otter Tail County after a woman called deputies to report that her boyfriend was out of control following mushroom use, throwing and breaking items inside the rental. She also told deputies Lewis had tried to strangle her.

When deputies arrived, they could see Lewis on an upper level of the property, unclothed. A sergeant asked Lewis to come downstairs. Instead, Lewis began yelling incoherently and threw the mirror and fake plant from the loft balcony down into the living room. After being told to stop, he climbed onto the ledge of the balcony.

Deputies went upstairs to make contact. According to court documents, Lewis then threw cash at the sergeant and attempted to reach out and grab a deputy's face.

Once Lewis had calmed down and was speaking more coherently, deputies spoke with him about the incident. He told them he did not recall what had happened, and said it was his second time taking mushrooms, adding that the first time he had not experienced similar effects.

Lewis was arrested Sunday and made his first court appearance Monday morning. He faces charges of obstructing the legal process with force and misdemeanor domestic assault. No further court dates, bail conditions, or attorney information were immediately available.
