Minnesota Girls State Basketball Tournament Opens March 11 at University of Minnesota

The 2026 Minnesota Girls State High School Basketball Tournament opened Tuesday at the University of Minnesota campus, with quarterfinal action split between Williams Arena and the adjoining Maturi Pavilion across all four classes.

Class 4A quarterfinals tip off at Williams Arena on Wednesday, led by top-seeded Hopkins against No. 8 Blaine at 10 a.m. No. 4 Maple Grove faces No. 5 East Ridge at noon, No. 2 Rosemount takes on No. 7 Chanhassen at 2 p.m., and No. 3 Rochester Mayo closes out Wednesday's slate against No. 6 Monticello at 4 p.m. The 4A semifinals move to Thursday evening at Williams Arena, with the championship game set for Saturday at 8 p.m.

Class 3A quarterfinals run concurrently at Maturi Pavilion. No. 1 Stewartville opens against No. 8 Willmar at 10 a.m. Wednesday, followed by No. 4 Cretin-Derham Hall versus No. 5 Hill-Murray at noon, No. 2 Benilde-St. Margaret's against No. 7 Rock Ridge at 2 p.m., and No. 3 Marshall taking on No. 6 Totino-Grace at 4 p.m.

Class 1A quarterfinals feature No. 1 Mountain Iron-Buhl against No. 8 Braham at 11 a.m., No. 4 Hillcrest Lutheran versus No. 5 New Richland-H-E-G at 1 p.m., No. 2 Sleepy Eye St. Mary's against No. 7 Mayer Lutheran at 3 p.m., and No. 3 Kelliher/Northome facing No. 6 Central Minnesota Christian at 5 p.m. The Class 1A semifinals are scheduled for Friday, with the final at noon Saturday.

All semifinals and finals across all classes will be played at Williams Arena. Those games will be broadcast locally on KSTC, Channel 45, and streamed at prep45.com and on the KSTP 5 app. Quarterfinal games can be streamed at nspn.tv/MSHSL, where a subscription is required.
