A new women's health clinic focused exclusively on perimenopause and menopause care is set to open in Perham later this month, bringing specialized midlife health services to a community where such focused care has been largely unavailable.

Next Chapter Hormone & Wellness, owned and operated by Perham nurse practitioner McKenzee Kemper, is scheduled to open in late March inside Elements Wellness and Med Spa at 127 1st Ave S. Kemper is renting office space within the existing facility, positioning her practice alongside established wellness services in downtown Perham.

Kemper described the clinic's focus as addressing a stage of life that often goes underserved in primary care settings. "Perimenopause is the seven-to-10 year period of a woman's life where she starts experiencing symptoms of menopause, but hasn't actually stopped having periods yet," she explained. "Menopause means you haven't had a period for one year. If you don't have a uterus or the organ that allows you to have a period, then that definition gets a little more nuanced."

The transition into menopause can bring a wide range of symptoms, including brain fog, fatigue, hot flashes, night sweats, painful intercourse, low libido, and bone density loss. Kemper noted those represent only part of the picture, with many patients experiencing additional concerns that affect daily functioning and quality of life.

Tentative office hours at Next Chapter Hormone & Wellness are Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kemper has indicated she is open to scheduling appointments outside those hours when needed to accommodate patients.

Questions about services, insurance, and the clinic's exact opening date can be directed to Kemper at nextchapterhormone@gmail.com or through nextchapterhormone.com.
