Perry Central releases 2026-27 school supply list for families

Perry Central Community Schools posted its 2026-2027 school supply list on June 23, giving Perry County families an early look before Back-to-School Night on Monday, Aug. 3, and the first day of classes on Thursday, Aug. 6. The district’s documents page now lists both the school calendar and the supply list as downloadable PDFs.

The timing landed in the middle of a quiet stretch on the district calendar, which marks the week of June 21-27 as a dead week and adds another dead week from June 28 through July 4. For parents juggling summer jobs, camps, athletics and county events, the posting is one of the first concrete signs that August is getting close.

The supply-list notice also fits into a larger planning picture at Perry Central. The district describes itself as an Early College High School designated by the Center for Excellence of Leadership & Learning, in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College. Perry Central says students can earn more than 50 dual credits, complete the Indiana College Core certificate, get one year of college free, or work toward an Associate of General Studies path while still in high school.

The district has also already flagged other 2026-2027 deadlines for families with younger children. Children who will be 4 by Aug. 1, 2026 are eligible for preschool, and children who will be 5 by Aug. 1, 2026 are eligible for kindergarten. Perry Central also said all students in grades 7 through 12 will receive free all-sports passes for the coming school year, funded by an anonymous community partner.

Superintendent Tara Bishop, Ed.D., a Perry Central graduate from the Class of 1990, leads the corporation, whose board includes Joe Flamion, Kevin Etienne, Nan DuPont, Tim Edwards and Glenn Etienne. Together, the June notices tie together supplies, enrollment, athletics and college-credit planning before students return to Perry Central Elementary School and Perry Central Jr.-Sr. High School in August.
