Perry County library adds Rosé & Romance Book Club in Tell City

Perry County Public Library pushed its Rosé & Romance Book Club out of the branch and into downtown Tell City, listing the May 14 gathering at Bottom of the Barrel Wine Room on Pick Perry County. The adults-focused club was framed as a relaxed social discussion, with room for readers to choose what they wanted to read instead of following a lecture-heavy format.

The setting gave the program a different feel from a standard library meeting. Bottom of the Barrel Wine Room, at 606 Main Street, describes itself as a fun, approachable winery and wine room in downtown Tell City run by lifelong Perry County residents. That made the event as much about place as it was about books, linking the library to a downtown business built around conversation and evening traffic.

The library has been building adult programming well beyond this one club. On its adult-programs page, Perry County Public Library lists recurring offerings such as Adult Craft Class and Cook Book Club, along with special events including Fall Craft Bazaar and Star Wars Day. The Tell City branch, at 2328 Tell Street, is open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For Perry County, the scale makes the move notable. The county had 19,170 residents in the 2020 Census, and Tell City had 7,506, which gives a new adults-only evening option outsized visibility in a small community. The library also operates the Cannelton Branch at 210 South 8th Street in Cannelton, underscoring that adult outreach is a countywide issue, not just a Tell City one. Rosé & Romance fit that approach by offering a low-key place for readers to connect in a downtown setting that extends the library’s reach beyond its own walls.
