Kentrell Johnson walked off the track in Wolfforth with three gold medals and left little doubt about who owned the District 5-4A Championships. The Lake View senior won the 100-meter dash in 10.68 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 21.58 seconds, then anchored the 4x200 relay alongside Gabriel Alvarez, Calvin Whitfield, and Chris Rodela to a first-place finish in 1:29.34, stamping the Chiefs' relay program as a genuine post-season threat in UIL Class 4A.

That 4x200 time sits 1.22 seconds off the school record of 1:28.12, set in 2022 by Derrick Taylor, Brandon Durio, Devyn Paz, and Brandon Cruz. With Johnson's top-end speed and the squad's clean exchanges under district pressure, that four-year-old benchmark now has a credible chasing party.

Lake View's relay strength carried into the 4x400 as well, where the Chiefs won in 3:33.72. Both relay victories, along with Johnson's individual golds, secured qualifying spots for the area meet under UIL rules that advance the top four finishers in each event.

The achievements came inside a district that showed its depth on the scoreboard. Lubbock-Cooper Liberty claimed the championship with 208 points, nearly 100 ahead of the second-place finisher. Lake View finished third with 91 points at the April 2-3 meet in Wolfforth, a result that reflects the quality of competition the Chiefs navigated on their way to two relay titles.

Johnson's three district golds add another chapter to an already-built resume. In the 2025 track season, he ran a personal-best 21.39 seconds at the Class 4A Region I meet to earn silver, then advanced to the UIL State Track and Field meet, where he finished fourth in the 200-meter dash. Off the track, he lines up as a defensive back for a Lake View football program that has been chasing its first district title since 2004, part of a broader athletic resurgence at the Pride of the Northside.

With relay wins and a three-time district gold medalist anchoring the lineup, the Chiefs carry real momentum into the area meet, the next step on the UIL post-season ladder toward regionals and state.
