Bowie State Softball Swept by Frostburg State, Outscored 24-1 in Doubleheader
Bowie State softball was outscored 24-1 in a brutal Sunday doubleheader, including a 15-0 mercy-rule loss to Frostburg State.

Frostburg State handed Bowie State's softball team one of its most lopsided defeats of recent memory Sunday, sweeping a doubleheader at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy and outscoring the Bulldogs 24-1 across two games.
Bowie State dropped the opener 9-1 before the afternoon turned dramatically worse in the nightcap, a 15-0 shellacking that ended via the mercy rule. The combined margin of 23 runs tells a stark story of a program that struggled to generate any consistent offense or contain Frostburg State's attack across the full day of play.
The Washington Nationals Youth Academy, one of the premier youth and amateur athletic facilities in the region, served as the backdrop for what amounted to a difficult afternoon for the Bulldogs. Bowie State's lone run in Game 1 represented the team's only scoring contribution across both contests.
The doubleheader results extend what has been a challenging stretch for the Bulldogs, who now face the remainder of their schedule needing to regroup after being held scoreless in one game and limited to a single run in the other. Mercy-rule losses in softball typically require one team to fall behind by a set run margin, often 10 or more runs, after a minimum number of innings, and Sunday's second game reached that threshold decisively.

Frostburg State, a Division II program out of western Maryland, showed sharp execution on both sides of the ball. The 15 runs scored in the second game alone underscore how thoroughly the Bobcats controlled the day.
Bowie State's coaching staff will have limited time to address the issues exposed Sunday before the program's next scheduled action.
