Glassmanor Bedroom Fire Extinguished in 2-Story Duplex; Family Displaced

Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department (PGFD) responded to a bedroom fire in a 2-story duplex on the 5000 block of Chester St. in Glassmanor, and the agency said the blaze was extinguished with no injuries while two adults and one child were displaced.

The incident occurred Feb. 27, 2026, and PGFD reported that "Fire extinguished with no injuries; investigators on scene." Fire crews knocked down the bedroom fire and fire investigators remained at the property to examine the scene, the department said.

PGFD also posted an image on X showing crews at the duplex and wrote, "Fire Investigators on scene. @PGCountyOEM to assist 2 adults, 1 child displaced." The post named the Prince George’s County Office of Emergency Management by its social handle as the agency assisting the displaced family.

The structure is a 2-story duplex on the 5000 block of Chester St. in the Glassmanor neighborhood; sources expressly described the event as a "bedroom fire" and have not released details about the extent of structural damage. Investigators on scene have not announced a cause or a point of origin beyond the bedroom location noted in initial reports.

Two adults and one child were identified as displaced and are being assisted by the county Office of Emergency Management, according to PGFD and the department’s social post.
