Landover Hills House Fire Leaves 1 Critical, 5 Firefighters Evaluated
A man pulled from a burning basement on Allison Street is now stable after being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, while 5 PGFD firefighters were also hospitalized.

Flames were tearing through the roof of a single-story home in Landover Hills when Prince George's County firefighters arrived Monday morning, and what they found inside — a man trapped in the basement — set off a rescue that sent six people to hospitals before 8 a.m.
Units responded around 7:48 a.m. to the 7400 block of Allison Street for a house fire with reports of occupants trapped. Crews arrived to find fire showing through the roof of a single-story single-family home with a basement. Firefighters made entry and located one adult male occupant, removing him from the basement. EMS transported the man in critical condition; he is currently in stable condition, according to the Prince George's County Fire and EMS Department.
Five PGFD firefighters were transported to hospitals for evaluation. The department's official language describes them as transported for evaluation, though at least one outlet characterized them as injured in its headline.
One dog was located deceased inside the home, and another was provided oxygen by EMS crews before being released to family members.
Fire investigators are on scene working to determine an origin and cause of the fire. No cause of the fire has been determined. The Prince George's County Office of Emergency Management was on scene to assist a yet-to-be-determined number of displaced occupants.
