Prince George's County Offers $250,000 in Community Impact Grants for Local Organizations
Prince George's County opened $250,000 in competitive capital grants to local nonprofits, with $100,000 reserved for strategic economic development zones.

The Redevelopment Authority of Prince George's County made $250,000 in Community Impact Grants available Wednesday, opening a competitive funding window for local nonprofits seeking capital for physical improvements that often sit for years on community wish lists.
The program divides its funding into two pools: $100,000 designated for projects within National Capital Strategic Economic Development Areas, and $150,000 open to eligible organizations countywide. Civic and neighborhood associations, community-based organizations, and houses of worship all qualify, provided they hold 501(c)(3) status, are based in Prince George's County, and can demonstrate incorporation, financial standing, and project readiness at the time of application.
Eligible projects focus on capital improvements with lasting physical presence. Streetscape enhancements, community signage, façade upgrades, and the creation of community gathering spaces all fall within the scope of the program's Notice of Funding Availability. The restrictions are equally clear: grants cannot fund operating expenses, salaries, or stipends. Every dollar must be invested in a tangible, permanent improvement.
Awardees will be required to demonstrate viability and compliance with both county and state regulations. The Redevelopment Authority framed the program as part of a broader county strategy to support community-led development and ensure local organizations have access to capital for concrete projects.

The $100,000 set aside for National Capital Strategic Economic Development Areas reflects a deliberate policy choice to concentrate investment in zones already targeted for larger-scale redevelopment. For neighborhood organizations working within those corridors, a capital grant can serve as an early foothold, making the case for additional philanthropic or private investment down the line.
Applications are now being accepted under the county's NOFA. Full eligibility criteria, application instructions, and submission details are available through the Redevelopment Authority's grants page on the county website. Award decisions and project timelines will follow the completion of the review period.
