Special Education Teacher Struck by Car While Aiding Crash Victims on Georgia Avenue
Nick Brown, a PG County special ed teacher and father of four, was hospitalized with stitches after debris from a secondary crash struck him while he called 911 on Georgia Avenue.

Nick Brown stopped on Georgia Avenue near the Intercounty Connector on March 12 because two people needed help and no first responders had arrived yet. The Olney resident, a special education teacher with Prince George's County Public Schools and a trained first-aid responder, pulled over and jumped out of his vehicle. Moments later, a separate driver smashed into one of the already-crashed cars. Debris flew across the sidewalk where Brown stood, phone in hand, mid-call to 911, and struck him.
Brown was seriously injured and hospitalized with stitches. Three other people were transported to a hospital after the crash; all of them survived. Montgomery County Police are continuing to investigate the accidents.
Speaking with FOX 5 from his hospital bed, Brown said he believes his faith in God saved his life. He told the station he hopes to return to his classroom in Prince George's County soon, and that he misses his students.
The crash tested a man whose entire professional life has centered on showing up for others. Brown has worked in education for 20 years and also serves as a driving instructor. He lives in Olney with his wife and four children, ages 3, 5, 7 and 10.
His sister, grateful he survived, started a GoFundMe to help the family cover mounting medical bills. She noted on the campaign page that Brown acted because of his first-aid training, stopping before police or paramedics had reached the scene.
