Bells, Grand Saline meet in Royse City regional semifinal series
Royse City will host a Class 3A Division II semifinal that brings Bells and Grand Saline into Rockwall County for a three-game playoff sprint. Both teams arrive after hard-fought series wins.

Royse City becomes the postseason stage for a Class 3A Division II Region II semifinal series that sends Bells and Grand Saline into Rockwall County for Games 1 and 2 at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with a third game set for 2 p.m. Saturday if needed. For a neutral site, the setting gives local softball fans a chance to see a high-level UIL playoff series without leaving the county line.
The matchup is part of the 2025-2026 UIL Texas Softball Championships, and both programs earned their place the hard way. Grand Saline moved through De Kalb in three games, winning 2-0, losing 0-6, then closing the series with a 15-0 finish. In the opener, McKennah Davis delivered seven shutout innings with 11 strikeouts, and Madi Fugate added a home run to help Grand Saline set the tone.

Bells comes in after its own tense playoff run against Paradise. The Lady Panthers dropped one game in the series, then answered with a 9-2 win in the deciding game to advance. That turnaround showed the kind of resilience that often decides spring playoff baseball and softball, where one rough night can be followed by a season-saving response the next afternoon.
The series should also matter beyond the two dugouts. Royse City’s role as host puts a regional semifinal in front of East Texas families, alumni and casual fans who can turn a weekday game into a community event. The draw is not just the teams, but the postseason atmosphere, the possibility of a rubber game Saturday and the chance for local spectators to watch two clubs that have already proven they can handle pressure.
Bells is listed at 30-4-1 and Grand Saline at 28-9, a reminder that both teams have spent the spring piling up wins before arriving in Rockwall County. Grand Saline’s path featured shutouts and a dominant finish against De Kalb. Bells had to survive Paradise’s push and recover after a setback in order to keep its season alive.
The first pitch in Royse City will start a series that should bring sharp pitching, heavy stakes and a playoff crowd with plenty of interest beyond either school. For Rockwall County, it is another chance to host softball that feels bigger than a single game.
