North Forney High School Wins UIL One Act Play District Title

North Forney High School's North Star Theatre captured the 6A District 10 UIL One Act Play title with its production of "I, Don Quixote," setting up a bi-district contest at Rockwall-Heath High School on Tuesday.

The district championship extends a recent run of postseason success for the North Star Theatre. Last season, North Forney performed "Scenes From Angels of Bataan" and advanced to the UIL state competition, where two Falcons earned individual acting honors on the official UIL recognition lists. Diwa Zarate received an All-Star Cast designation for her portrayal of Edith Webb, and Lola Guerrero earned Honorable Mention All-Star Cast recognition for playing Millie Plinders. That state field was ultimately won by Keller and Prosper, which tied for the Theatre Team Championship, while Allen finished as second runner-up.

Tuesday's bi-district round brings the Falcons to Rockwall-Heath, a contest that determines advancement into the area round. UIL One Act Play teams carry a single production through every level of the bracket, from district through bi-district, area, regional, and ultimately state, meaning "I, Don Quixote" will represent North Forney at each stage as long as the program continues to advance.

Forney ISD has built one of the most recognized theatre programs in North Texas, holding TxETA Exemplary District status and designation as both a Texas Thespians and EdTA Premier Community for Theatre Education. The North Star Theatre has been central to that standing, with recent appearances at the district, region, and state competition levels. North Forney expressed pride in its students and staff following the district victory.
