Rockwall High School is back in the regional final for the first time since 2022, and the Yellowjackets carried a six-game winning streak into a May 23 showdown with Waxahachie after beating Grand Oaks 11-4 on Saturday, May 16, in the 2026 UIL Texas Baseball Championships. Rockwall stood at 24-14-3 after the win, a mark that reflects how quickly Barry Rose’s club has turned its postseason into a run with real traction.

The path to this point has been built one round at a time. Rockwall first got past Waco Midway in the regional quarterfinals, then handled Grand Oaks to keep the season alive in the UIL 6A Division I bracket. The result has revived the kind of spring baseball buzz that pulls in Rockwall families, alumni and former players who remember what a deep playoff push can mean for a program and for a campus that follows every inning.

Waxahachie now stands in the way, and this meeting brings a familiar edge. Waxahachie entered the regional final at 37-3 and had already beaten Sachse and The Woodlands to reach this stage. Rockwall and Waxahachie also met during the regular season, adding another layer to a matchup that already carries the feel of a renewed rivalry rather than a first-time pairing. MaxPreps lists the game as a neutral playoff meeting on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in the conference 6A Division I tournament.

For Rockwall, the return to this round matters because it points back to the program’s recent standard. Rockwall’s baseball history shows the Yellowjackets finished 36-9 in 2022-23 under Rose and went 28-13-1 in 2021-22, the last seasons that framed the school as a regular presence in the deeper playoff brackets. Reaching the regional final again puts that level back within reach, with Rockwall High School once more playing for a place among the state’s final teams and giving the program a chance to turn a strong spring into something bigger for the next generation that watches from Rockwall County stands.
