Rockwall-Heath Hawks Edge Tyler Legacy 2-1 in District 10-6A Opener

Mick Randle threw a complete game with seven strikeouts, and a key sacrifice fly provided the margin as the Rockwall-Heath Hawks beat Tyler Legacy 1 in their District 10-6A opener Tuesday in Heath.

Randle allowed one run on four hits across the full outing, giving the Hawks all they needed in a game defined more by defense and pitching efficiency than offense. Tyler Legacy countered with a three-pitcher rotation that held Rockwall-Heath to just two hits, yet still surrendered the decisive runs.

Cale Zips started for Legacy and allowed one run on two hits with five walks over 3.2 innings. Brandon Sanders followed, giving up one run on one hit with two walks in 1.1 innings. Jaden Davis closed out the final inning without allowing a hit or a run, recording two strikeouts. The trio's combined two-hit effort against the Hawks was enough to keep the game close but not enough to steal a win on the road.

Owen Harrison was Legacy's most productive bat, going 2-for-2 with a triple and a double. His two extra-base hits accounted for the Raiders' offensive highlight, though the run support fell short against Randle's performance on the mound.

The victory pushed Rockwall-Heath to 1-0 in district play. The Hawks entered the game with considerable momentum, having won eight of their last nine matchups heading into district. Tyler Legacy, which had beaten Rockwall-Heath 3-2 in their previous meeting in March 2025, dropped to 0-1 in District 10-6A with the loss.

Head coach Greg Harvey, who has led the Hawks program for 21 years and has accumulated 541 career wins, now has his team positioned atop the District 10-6A standings to open the league schedule. A rematch between the two programs is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday, giving Legacy a quick opportunity to even the district series.
