Rockwall Independence Day celebration set for parade, festival and fireworks

Rockwall’s Fourth of July celebration will stretch from an 11 a.m. parade downtown to dusk fireworks at Harry Myers Park, with charter buses starting at 3 p.m. and no on-site parking at the park. City officials are billing the holiday as Rockwall’s 250th Independence Celebration, and the logistics are built to help families plan around the crowds before they ever leave home.

The parade will begin at the Rockwall County Courthouse and Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium area and end at Dobbs Elementary. That gives spectators a clear route to follow, whether they want to line up along the parade path or settle in early near the finish. The City of Rockwall also says a free shuttle will move people between Downtown Rockwall, Harry Myers Park and various parking locations, with additional parking details to be released closer to the event.

The evening festival shifts to Harry Myers Park, where the city is promising a full slate of holiday programming. Parachute jumpers are expected around 6:45 p.m., followed by free live music from the Diamond West Band at 7 p.m. Food trucks will be part of the lineup, and fireworks will close out the night at dusk. Families are being encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, food and drinks, along with practical items like strollers or wagons, sunscreen, bug spray, hats, sunglasses, coolers, water and handheld fans.

The city is also reminding residents that personal fireworks are not permitted within Rockwall city limits. The list of items not allowed includes sharp objects, glass containers, fireworks or sparklers and drones, a detail that matters for anyone trying to pack for a long evening at the park. With no on-site parking at Harry Myers Park this year, the shuttle system and off-site buses are set to be the main way many visitors get to the festival grounds.

The format will feel familiar to longtime residents. Rockwall’s 2024 holiday release used the same basic parade route and Harry Myers Park venue, with food trucks from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., fireworks at dusk and complimentary trolley service from downtown to the park. This year’s celebration keeps that same community-wide footprint while putting even more emphasis on access, parking and getting families where they need to be on July 4.
