Texas Health Resources was one of 56 employers nationwide honored with the Business Group on Health’s Best Employers: Excellence in Health & Well-being award, and the system also picked up recognition for Excellence in Mental Health and Excellence in Health Inclusion.

For Rockwall County, the headline matters because Texas Health Rockwall is not a symbolic outpost. The hospital at 3150 Horizon Road serves Rockwall, Kaufman, Hunt, eastern Dallas and southern Collin counties, a fast-growing stretch of North Texas where demand for care has climbed alongside the population. Rockwall County’s estimated population rose from 137,044 in 2024 to 140,738 in 2025, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates.

Texas Health said the health-and-well-being honor marked 16 consecutive years of recognition, from 2010 through 2025. That long run suggests more than a one-time accolade. It points to a systemwide strategy built around employee benefits, mental health support and workplace inclusion, the kinds of policies that can shape whether hospitals keep experienced nurses, technicians and support staff in a competitive labor market.

The local hospital has been expanding at the same time. Texas Health Rockwall completed a major renovation and expansion in 2023 that nearly doubled the hospital’s size and added a Level II neonatal intensive care unit, a cardiac catheterization lab and an expanded emergency department. Texas state licensing records show the project began April 2, 2020 and finished March 31, 2023, with an estimated cost of $65 million. Local reporting placed the project at about $104 million.

Hospital leaders have tied that growth directly to the county’s pace of change. Cindy Perrin, the hospital president, said at the time that the hospital was growing with the communities it served and that the new NICU was helping meet the needs of its tiniest patients.

The award does not change care on its own, but it does signal what Rockwall patients, employers and workers can expect from the health system behind the hospital: continued investment in staff well-being, mental health and inclusion, along with a facility that now offers Women’s Imaging and Breast Center services, a bariatric clinic, sports medicine and outpatient physical therapy. In a county adding residents as quickly as Rockwall is, those back-end workplace standards can translate into more stable front-line care.
