Bloomfield Rallies From Early Deficit, Tops Aztec 14-12 in District Opener
Gavin Pecotte's three-RBI triple sparked Bloomfield's five-run sixth-inning rally past Aztec 14-12 in the District 1-4A opener at John Gutierrez Field.

Down 10-7 heading into the sixth, Bloomfield had already clawed out of a 6-0 crater once. Gavin Pecotte made sure the comeback finished the job, lining a triple into the left-field gap that drove in three runs and ignited the decisive five-run rally that carried the Bobcats to a 14-12 win over Aztec in the District 1-4A opener March 31 at John Gutierrez Field.
The early damage came fast. Aztec's Christian Holmes ripped a bases-clearing double in the first inning, chasing Bloomfield starter Manuel Chavarria before the Bobcats had found their footing. Bloomfield clawed back into the game, only to fall behind again at 10-7 before the sixth-inning surge put them ahead for good.
Coach Anthony Valencia steadied the roster through each reversal, pushing his players to halve the deficit first, then chip away rather than chase the full score at once. Two-out hitting, aggressive baserunning, and stabilizing relief pitching after Chavarria's early exit made the approach work.

The stands at John Gutierrez Field held a full crowd despite chilly afternoon conditions, fitting for a rivalry that rarely needs warm weather to draw fans. Aztec answered each Bloomfield rally and kept the margin close until the sixth, which sets up a compelling rematch later in April at Fred Cook Memorial Stadium in Aztec.
Bloomfield heads into the rest of district play with a come-from-behind win already on the ledger. Aztec will need to address starting pitching depth and defensive consistency before that second meeting.
