Farmington Police Kill Armed Suspect During Domestic Violence Call Response
An armed suspect died at the scene after Farmington police responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic violence incident on the 1100 block of Hines Road Tuesday morning.

An armed suspect was shot and killed Tuesday morning after Farmington police officers responded to a domestic violence call on the 1100 block of Hines Road, with the suspect pronounced dead at the scene and no officers injured, authorities said.
Officers were dispatched to the address after receiving a call that a domestic violence incident had occurred, according to a news release from Shanice Gonzales, spokesperson for the Farmington Police Department. Gonzales confirmed the person involved was armed. Accounts differ slightly on the precise timing: Gonzales placed the dispatch at around 9:30 a.m., while the San Juan County Sheriff's Office cited approximately 10 a.m. in a Facebook post, noting a 911 caller had reported an armed subject near Hines Road.
"An officer-involved shooting occurred, and the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene," Gonzales said. No other individuals or officers were injured, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The San Juan County Regional Officer Involved Shooting Task Force, led by the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, is overseeing the investigation. Sheriff Shane Ferrari addressed the shooting in a statement posted by the Sheriff's Office. "Law enforcement officers have to make split second decisions daily in situations that most people will never have to face," Ferrari said. "This officer deserves a fair investigation and that is exactly what we plan to do."
The Sheriff's Office confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public. Both the suspect's identity and the identities of the officers involved are being withheld pending the investigation. Gonzales said additional information will be released as it becomes available, though the Sheriff's Office cautioned that further details may not emerge until the task force completes its work.
