Farmington Police Probe Shots Fired at Downtown Wells Fargo Building
9mm shell casings found outside the Wells Fargo at South Commercial and Broadway after a shots-fired call at 2 a.m. Wednesday; no injuries, no suspects identified.
Farmington police found 9mm shell casings outside the Wells Fargo building at the corner of South Commercial Avenue and Broadway after officers responded to a shots-fired call around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Department spokeswoman Shanice Gonzales confirmed that responding officers recovered the shell casings and interviewed witnesses at the scene. No injuries were reported, and as of Wednesday the department had not released any suspect information.
The location sits at one of downtown Farmington's central business intersections, a corridor that draws pedestrian and vehicle traffic throughout the night and into business hours. Gunfire near a bank in that stretch amplifies public concern not only about immediate civilian risk but about the possibility of related criminal activity in an area that residents and commuters pass through daily.
Gonzales described the matter as an active investigation. Detectives are expected to review surveillance footage from the Wells Fargo building itself, which as a financial institution typically maintains multiple exterior and interior camera feeds, as well as footage from neighboring businesses along the South Commercial Avenue corridor. Ballistic evidence from the scene will also be processed as part of the inquiry.

Anyone in the immediate area who has private security or doorbell camera footage from early Wednesday morning is asked to contact the Farmington Police Department. Investigators are still working to identify possible suspects and develop additional leads.
Farmington police said updates will be released as the investigation progresses.
