Nava, Cates to Host Post-Session Town Hall in Corrales on March 14
Sen. Cindy Nava and Rep. Kathleen Cates brought the 2026 legislative session home to Corrales on Saturday, giving constituents two hours to ask how their votes shaped Sandoval County.

State Sen. Cindy Nava and state Rep. Kathleen Cates brought the just-concluded New Mexico legislative session directly to their constituents Saturday afternoon, hosting a two-hour town hall at the Village Council Chambers on Corrales Road.
The event ran from 2 to 4 p.m. at 4324 Corrales Road, with a Zoom link available for residents who could not attend in person. Both lawmakers represent districts that include portions of the Village of Corrales, making the gathering a rare chance for neighbors to sit across from the people who cast votes on their behalf during the recently concluded 30-day session.
The town hall gave constituents an opportunity to ask questions and learn how Nava and Cates voted on key bills affecting Sandoval County and the broader region. The 30-day session, shorter and typically more constrained in scope than New Mexico's 60-day sessions held in odd years, limits the range of legislation that can move through the chamber, which often sharpens constituent interest in exactly what their representatives managed to accomplish or block within that compressed window.

Nava has drawn attention in recent months beyond her district, having been named to The Hill's list of top women shaping policy. Saturday's town hall offered Corrales residents a direct line to that influence, without the trip to Santa Fe.
No agenda or list of specific bills was published in advance of the event. Constituents came prepared with their own questions about how the session's outcomes will land in Sandoval County communities.
