Rio Rancho RRPD Jan. 4-10 Arrests: Multiple DWIs, Thefts, Domestic Violence
Rio Rancho police arrested multiple people Jan. 4-10 for DWIs, thefts and domestic violence, underscoring traffic safety and public-safety concerns for local residents.

Rio Rancho police made a string of arrests Jan. 4-10 that included multiple alleged impaired drivers, several cases of theft and fraud, and repeated reports of battery involving household members, raising questions about traffic safety, consumer protection and domestic-violence response in Sandoval County.
Traffic enforcement accounted for a large share of the week’s detentions. Anthony Vigil, 29, Cheyenne Plew, 29, and Taylor Wills, 21, were arrested Jan. 4 on DWI-related charges; Wills was also cited for parking violations and driving without a license. Later in the week, Edgar Ocon, 32, was booked for aggravated DWI/DUI after refusing testing, and Alvaro Alcaraz-Sanchez, 64, was arrested for aggravated DWI and reckless driving. On Jan. 10, three more arrests involved suspected impaired driving: Robert Chavez, 44, was charged with aggravated DWI, careless driving and negligent use of a deadly weapon on Iris Road; Jonathan Perez, 46, faced aggravated DWI and reckless driving charges; and Tammie Casiquito, 45, was arrested for battery against a household member as well as DWI and reckless driving.

The grouping of DWI cases suggests sustained enforcement but also highlights recurring risks on local roads, including incidents involving alleged weapons use linked to driving offenses. Residents who travel on NM 528, Unser Boulevard and Iris Road are directly affected by these patterns, and the arrests underscore ongoing enforcement priorities for the Rio Rancho Police Department (RRPD).

Retail and financial crimes were also prominent. Destinye Guth, 27, was summoned on two counts of identity theft, credit card theft and fraud tied to incidents at Albertsons, Allsups and other stores near Ridgecrest Drive. Gabriel Ricci, 54, was arrested for credit card fraud at Extended Stay America on NM 528, and Santana Quintana, 36, faced a shoplifting charge. These cases reinforce the need for vigilance by shoppers and businesses around Ridgecrest Drive and NM 528 as merchants cope with theft and fraud.
Domestic violence and related battery charges appeared repeatedly in the weekly log. Kiyahn Bullhead, 26, was arrested on two counts of aggravated battery against a household member. Katrina MacDonnell, 32; Raqual Gomez, 51; Gabriel Delval, 46; Pete Lucero, 79; and others were charged with battery against household members. Ronald Morris, 89, was arrested for battery upon a health care worker. Officials also logged a restraining-order violation and a summoned failure to relinquish a firearm, signaling intersections between domestic incidents and weapons-related concerns.
Other arrests included criminal trespass and possession of a controlled substance, criminal damage to property at Discount Tire on Unser Boulevard, interference with officers and disorderly conduct. The breadth of charges in a single week highlights pressure points for law enforcement, courts and social services.
The RRPD log provides names and allegations; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. "Defendants are innocent until proven guilty. Anyone named here who has charges dismissed or is acquitted can bring the paperwork documenting that outcome to the Observer office, 2316 Southern Blvd. Suite B, or email copies to editor@rrobserver.com. The information will then be printed in this space."
For residents, the week’s arrests signal the continued importance of safe driving practices, safeguarding financial information and knowing how to access resources for victims of domestic violence.
