Rio Rancho's Broadmoor Boulevard Closes for Multimillion-Dollar Road, Water Project
Broadmoor Boulevard is closed through March 24 for a multimillion-dollar road and water line project, with pressure dropping to roughly 10 PSI for nearby customers.

Broadmoor Boulevard is in the middle of a two-phase closure this month as the City of Rio Rancho pushes through a multimillion-dollar roadway and water line replacement project affecting a stretch of road bordered by some of the city's most traveled golf-community intersections.
The first work window, which began Monday, March 9, runs through approximately Sunday, March 15, blocking access to Broadmoor Boulevard from Nicklaus Drive. The second phase picks up immediately after: beginning Monday, March 16, and lasting until approximately Tuesday, March 24, southbound Country Club Drive will be closed between St. Andrews Drive and Oakmount Drive, while Broadmoor Boulevard itself will be shut between Country Club Drive and Lakeview Circle/Diez Y Ocho Court. The city says detour routes will be posted at both closures, and detour maps are available on the City of Rio Rancho's website.
Beyond the traffic disruptions, the city is warning customers in the affected area to expect lower-than-normal water pressure for the duration of the work. Pressure is expected to drop to approximately 10 PSI, well below typical residential delivery levels. The city's advisory does not specify whether any properties will face a complete outage or whether the reduced pressure will be continuous throughout each work window.
The project is described in city advisories as the "Broadmoor Blvd. improvement project and associated water line replacement." The work has been characterized as a multimillion-dollar investment, though the specific project cost has not been stated in official city advisories reviewed for this report. A figure of $8.4 million has circulated in connection with the project but has not been confirmed by city budget documents or a contract award notice; the City of Rio Rancho has not issued a public statement naming a contractor or total authorization amount.

The Broadmoor work is one of several active road projects across Rio Rancho this month. The city's website also lists lane closures on Enchanted Hills Boulevard, a Lema Road Reconstruction Project, and road improvements in the Vista Entrada neighborhood, signaling a broad push on infrastructure heading into spring.
Residents seeking detour maps or additional project information can contact the City of Rio Rancho at 3200 Civic Center Circle NE or by phone at 505-891-5000, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
