Sandoval County Restores Internet for County Offices After Multi-Day Outage
Internet service for Sandoval County offices was restored at 7:00 a.m. Thursday, ending a multi-day outage that disrupted county email and limited on-site services.

Internet service for Sandoval County offices was restored "as of 7:00 AM Thursday, February 12, 2026," the county posted, bringing back online systems that had left county email inoperable and limited in-person services at key departments.
County officials first warned of the disruption on Wednesday, Feb. 10, saying, "Emails cannot be received or be answered. On-site services are limited for the offices of the Assessor, Clerk and Treasurer. Phones are operational." The outage coincided with the regular commission meeting and prevented that session from being livestreamed. County IT recorded the meeting and said it will upload the recording to the county website for public viewing.
County Manager Wayne Johnson said the outage required action from the vendor, Lumen, and that a replacement part needed to be ordered to restore service; the part was expected to arrive Thursday. Johnson also told staff that missed messages would be handled once systems were back online. County officials thanked the public for their patience in the restoration post.
Despite the internet interruption, telephone service remained available throughout, including emergency lines. As county officials put it, "Phone lines remain operational, including both 911 emergency and non-emergency lines." That continuity meant residents could still reach offices by phone even as online transactions and email communication were disrupted.

The outage highlights how dependent routine county business has become on continuous internet access. Residents who planned to visit the Assessor, Clerk, or Treasurer for filings, title questions, or payments may have found on-site services limited while the outage persisted. The county has said it will address emails missed during the outage and will post updates as they become available.
Officials have not provided a technical root cause beyond the vendor needing to supply a part, and county messages did not specify the exact start time of the outage. The county has directed people seeking information or recordings of meetings to its official website and will post further updates when available.
For Sandoval County residents, the restoration means a return to normal online services and the resumption of public access to meeting materials. In the short term, callers who attempted to contact county offices during the outage should expect follow-up on missed requests and may want to confirm that any time-sensitive filings were received. Longer term, the incident underscores the importance of resilient vendor arrangements and backup plans for critical civic services.
