Toughest Hunt promotion hides family prizes across Sandoval region
The Rio Rancho Events Center launched the Toughest Hunt on Dec. 4, hiding small Toughest Monster Truck toys across Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Bernalillo as a giveaway tied to the Toughest Monster Truck Tour. The promotion, running daily through Jan. 11, offers seven Family 4-Packs and four Pit Party passes for the tour's Jan. 16–17 shows and carries implications for local families, businesses and public safety planning.

The Rio Rancho Events Center is running a regionwide giveaway called the Toughest Hunt that began Dec. 4 and continues daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through Jan. 11. Organizers have hidden small Toughest Monster Truck toys in public spots across Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Bernalillo. The promotion awards seven Family 4-Packs of tickets and four Pit Party passes for the Toughest Monster Truck Tour shows scheduled at the Rio Rancho Events Center on Jan. 16 and 17.
Participation requires locating a hidden toy, posting a photo on personal social media tagging the Events Center, and emailing a screenshot plus contact information to RioRanchoEventsCenter@gmail.com. Winners must be 18 or older to pick up tickets, and prize claims must be submitted by Jan. 8. The Events Center lists ticketing information on its official event page and provides phone assistance at 505-891-7300; the venue is at 3001 Civic Center Circle.
For Sandoval County residents this promotion is more than a game. The family-oriented giveaways and the upcoming monster truck shows draw multiple economic and public health considerations. Local businesses near the venue can expect increased foot traffic around show dates, which may help restaurants, hotels and retail vendors during a typically slow post-holiday period. At the same time, larger crowds can strain traffic circulation, parking and emergency medical resources, so advance planning by organizers and public safety agencies is essential to protect attendees and neighbors.
From a social equity perspective, prize pick-up rules and online entry requirements raise accessibility issues. Requiring social media posts and an emailed screenshot may disadvantage residents without reliable internet access or social media accounts. The age restriction for ticket pick-up means designated adults must collect prizes for families, which could be a barrier for some households. Organizers and community partners can reduce inequities by publicizing alternative claim methods, offering multilingual instructions, and coordinating with public transit to ease access for low-income residents.
Public health officials and event planners should also consider basic crowd health measures such as clear first aid staffing, hydration stations and advance communication about accessibility accommodations. Families with young children, older adults and people with disabilities benefit most when venues proactively address transportation, restroom access and quiet areas.
The Toughest Hunt culminates as the city prepares for the January shows. Residents with questions about the promotion or ticketing can contact the Rio Rancho Events Center at 505-891-7300 or use the event page's ticketing links for more details.
