Crash With Injuries Reported on Busy Semoran Boulevard in Altamonte Springs
A crash with injuries Friday on Semoran Blvd at Willow Ave comes weeks after a pedestrian was killed on the same road in Altamonte Springs.

A crash at the intersection of Semoran Boulevard and Willow Avenue in Altamonte Springs left people injured Friday, the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed, the latest collision on a corridor where a pedestrian was killed less than five weeks ago.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene on April 4. No road closure was reported, but motorists in the area were advised to use caution. The agency had not released the number of vehicles involved, the severity of the injuries, or the identities of those affected.
The crash came just weeks after Adam Bass, 27, of Longwood, was charged with DUI manslaughter after a pedestrian was struck and killed on eastbound SR-436 near Wymore Road in Altamonte Springs. First responders found the victim unconscious in the roadway.
Semoran Boulevard, the local name for State Road 436, runs from US 441 in Apopka south to the Beachline Expressway near Orlando International Airport. Constructed in the late 1960s, the road's name blends "Seminole" and "Orange," the two counties it traverses. Within Altamonte Springs city limits, the road carries the additional official designation of Altamonte Drive. It handles heavy volumes of regional and local traffic across a mix of commercial and residential land uses and is considered one of the busiest roads in Altamonte Springs, with many accidents reported every month.

SR-436's record reflects the corridor's structural hazards. Limited pedestrian crossings and cycling lanes leave walkers and cyclists particularly exposed. In May 2023, a pedestrian was struck and critically injured near SR-436 and Essex Avenue. In October 2025, two people were hurt when a car and a semi-truck collided on SR-436 in Altamonte Springs.
Seminole County issued more than 45,000 traffic tickets in 2015 alone, more than 12,000 for speeding and 6,652 for careless driving, with roughly 12 percent of violations dismissed. Traffic accident rates across the county have been described as on the rise.
FDOT, working with MetroPlan Orlando and the University of Central Florida, has an active SR-436 PedSafe Project in Altamonte Springs deploying Intelligent Transportation Systems and Transportation Systems Management and Operations solutions to improve pedestrian safety along the corridor. LYNX, the Central Florida transit authority, is separately conducting an SR-436 Transit Corridor Study covering the segment between SR-434 in Altamonte Springs and Orlando International Airport's South Terminal, a sign that multiple agencies recognize the road's mounting safety and capacity pressures.
