Local Charity Brings Year Round Holiday Magic to Children
Christmas Dreams, a Winter Springs Casselberry based nonprofit led by LeeAnn Stayer, ran its mobile attraction to create personalized holiday experiences for children with life threatening illnesses. The program and its volunteer training offer local opportunities for civic engagement, while plans for a permanent North Pole themed resort raise questions about funding, zoning, and long term sustainability for the community.

On December 22, Christmas Dreams used its "Christmas is Coming" trailer to deliver immersive holiday moments to children battling life threatening illnesses across Seminole County. The mobile attraction features elements designed for individualized visits, including a miniature train ride, a giant snow globe and cookie making sessions with Mrs. Claus. The nonprofit operates year round with an emphasis on creating joyful experiences for families facing serious medical challenges.
LeeAnn Stayer leads the organization and oversees volunteer programming that the group calls Elf University. That training prepares volunteers to work with children and families in sensitive circumstances, and helps the nonprofit maintain operational standards for events and mobile visits. Christmas Dreams also accepts donations and offers contact options through a website and phone line for supporters and volunteers.
The initiative fills a local need by offering free or low cost experiences that many families could not access during protracted medical care. For residents, the trailer visits provide direct charitable services and opportunities to volunteer in organized roles that include specialized training. For donors, the organization presents a vehicle to support family focused programming within the county.

Plans to expand toward an indoor North Pole themed resort introduce new questions about land use, permitting, financing and long term governance. A permanent facility could generate year round activity, potential economic spillover and seasonal employment, but it would also require clear oversight on funding sources, nonprofit governance and compliance with local zoning regulations. County leaders and planning officials will need to assess traffic, parking, and building codes if developers or the nonprofit pursue a fixed site.
As Christmas Dreams moves from mobile outreach toward broader ambitions, transparency on volunteer screening, financial stewardship and partnerships with healthcare providers will shape public confidence and civic participation. For Seminole County residents interested in supporting or volunteering, the organization provides direct contact channels. Local policymakers and community stakeholders will play a role in ensuring that any expansion aligns with community needs, regulatory standards and long term sustainability.
