Oviedo Community News joins Reportable radio-podcast hosted by Steve Mort Feb. 18
Oviedo Community News will join Reportable, a new weekly radio-podcast hosted by Steve Mort that launches Feb. 18, broadening local coverage for Greater Oviedo and Winter Springs.

Oviedo Community News announced it will participate in Reportable, a new weekly radio and podcast program produced by the News Collaborative of Central Florida and hosted by veteran local journalist Steve Mort. The first episode will air Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. on Central Florida Public Media’s radio frequencies 90.7 FM and 89.5 FM and will also be available on YouTube and all podcast platforms.
Reportable is being presented by the News Collaborative of Central Florida, which the group describes as “a collective of independent local news outlets and aligned partners working toward a more informed and engaged Central Florida.” The program’s editorial approach will “explore key issues in Central Florida through conversations with the local journalists who cover them,” placing newsroom-to-newsroom reporting at the center of each episode.
Funding support for the show comes from a mix of public media and regional news organizations: Central Florida Public Media, the Orlando Sentinel, the Winter Park Voice and the Central Florida Foundation. Oviedo Community News said its leaders and reporters will appear on the program to discuss local issues, and OCN will post episodes to its website, include them in its newsletter and share them on social media “in an effort to bring OCN readers another way to learn what’s going on in their community and the region, making it even more accessible to Greater Oviedo and Winter Springs.”
For a nonprofit newsroom like Oviedo Community News, joining a regional broadcast and podcast network extends reach beyond its existing digital footprint. OCN identifies itself as a mission-driven outlet: “Oviedo Community News informs and connects Greater Oviedo and Winter Springs through independent, public-service journalism.” The organization was “incorporated as Central Florida Community News Inc to build toward a larger goal of finding solutions for as many local news deserts as possible,” signaling that this partnership is part of a broader strategy to strengthen local reporting across the region.
Practically, the launch gives local listeners multiple ways to access reporting: live radio on the listed FM frequencies, on-demand episodes via podcast apps, and video on YouTube. Oviedo Community News already promotes its The Early Bird newsletter with the line “Get free local news sent to your inbox every Thursday morning,” and the newsroom plans to use that and its social channels to circulate Reportable episodes to existing subscribers and potential new readers.
For Seminole County residents, the collaboration means more regular coverage of regional issues delivered by reporters who know Oviedo and Winter Springs. Tune in Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m., or look for episodes afterward on Oviedo Community News’ website and in The Early Bird as the program begins its weekly run.
