Seminole County has closed Oxford Road to through traffic between Carolton Road and Worthington Road for five days to allow sidewalk reconstruction and drainage improvements, county Public Works officials announced. The work began Monday and is scheduled to conclude on Friday, Feb. 20, when the roadway is expected to reopen.

The closure will remain in effect 24 hours a day during Feb. 16–20, though crews will perform active construction work daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the county advised. Seminole County posted, "Oxford Road will be closed to through traffic from Carolton Road to Worthington Road from Monday, February 16, 2026 through Friday, February 20, 2026."

A hard closure will be placed at the intersection of Oxford Road and Markingham Road. WFTV reported, "A full closure will be implemented at the intersection of Oxford Road and Markingham Road. Residents will still have access from both directions along Markingham Road throughout the project." The county emphasized its access policy in stronger terms, saying, "Resident access will be maintained at all times throughout the closure."

Drivers will be routed around the work zone by posted detour signs. The county's posted detour route guides traffic along Carolton Road or Worthington Road to Winston Road; a detour map is available from the county under the filename Detour Route-oxford-closure-worthington-to-carolton.pdf. Seminole County advised motorists to follow posted signage and to use caution in the area.

Seminole County Public Works Engineering Division is carrying out the project, which includes converting existing asphalt sidewalks to concrete on Oxford Road, building new curb and gutter and concrete sidewalks on the west side, and upgrading driveways and curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act and county standards. The project also will replace damaged curb inlets and storm pipe to improve drainage along the corridor. Work on nearby Derbyshire Road will add a drop curb on the north side to convey stormwater runoff and replace portions of driveway and sidewalk to ADA and county standards.

The county shared project materials labeled oxford-road-drainage-location-map and posted social notices on Facebook and Instagram alerting neighbors to the Feb. 16–20 schedule. WFTV noted, "The five-day closure is required for scheduled construction work in the area." Residents with access questions can contact Seminole County Public Works for project updates and detour details.
