Red Bug Lake Park's 50th Anniversary 5K Run/Walk is set for Saturday, April 11, 2026, marking the first time Seminole County has wrapped a foot race around the half-century milestone of one of Casselberry's most enduring public spaces.

Built in 1976, Red Bug Lake Park sits on Red Bug Lake across 60 acres of active and passive recreation at 3600 Red Bug Lake Rd. It boasts the second largest tennis complex in Orlando North and has hosted Regional and Sectional USTA Tournaments, Florida High School Athletic Association District and State Championships, and the USTA Junior Team Tennis State Championships. The 5K is the park's first organized running race in its five-decade history.

The inaugural Red Bug Lake Park 5K Run & Walk kicks off the celebration, followed by family-friendly activities including a home run derby, themed tennis round robin, bounce houses, face painting, and more. The post-race lineup taps directly into the park's own sporting DNA: the facility includes 16 lighted hard court tennis courts, eight four-wall outdoor racquetball courts, three lighted softball fields, a jogging trail, a fishing pier, boardwalk, and playground area.

On the race side, the county is bringing in dedicated timing infrastructure. Chip timing will be provided by Southern Timing, LLC, and every finisher receives a full digital package: an individual results page with pace breakdown, a finisher certificate, and a 20-second video of the participant crossing the start/finish line.

The race window runs from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. EDT, with registration closing at 7:45 a.m. on race day. Entry is $35. Registration is open through RunSignUp at the Red Bug Lake Park 50th Anniversary 5K event page. Questions can be submitted directly through the RunSignUp contact form on that page, or by calling the park at 407-665-2190.
