Seminole County leads Florida early-vote update as totals rise

Seminole County posted the largest update in Florida’s latest early-vote report, adding the most ballots among 28 counties that filed new totals over the past hour. Statewide, the update showed Democrats ahead by 1,075 votes, Republicans by 630 and other voters by 262, a snapshot that points to strong movement as counties continue to file daily early-voting reports through the state Division of Elections system.

The pace matters in Seminole because the county has already seen both ends of the turnout spectrum. In October 2022, early-voter turnout there was low, but Central Florida counties later finished early voting with record-high turnout, showing how quickly momentum can change once more voters make their choices. Florida’s University of Florida Election Lab has tracked early-voting statistics nationwide since 2008, but detailed Florida data are not included in its 2024 general election tracker, leaving the state’s county reports as the clearest real-time read.

Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Amy Pennock, CFE, oversees the county’s voting operation. For the 2026 election cycle, Seminole says it has 82 precincts but 69 polling locations, and officials warned that polling places changed for some voters. The office said new voter information cards were being mailed to about 45,000 voters whose Election Day polling place changed, a shift that makes those mailers especially important before voters head to the polls.

Sample ballots were arriving in mailboxes across Seminole County during the week of Aug. 4, 2026, adding another sign that turnout is moving from preparation to action. Early voting for the 2026 primary runs from July 25 through Aug. 15, and voters can cast ballots at any early voting location in Seminole County.

That leaves the biggest influence with voters who have not yet voted, especially the roughly 45,000 residents affected by polling-place changes. With Seminole producing the largest single-hour update in the state, the county’s next reporting cycle will show whether that burst of activity holds through the final stretch.
