Seminole County Veterans Stand Down Connects 60 Vets to Key Resources

Sixty veterans gathered in Seminole County on Saturday, Feb. 28, for a Stand Down event that put them face to face with more than 35 community agencies offering everything from mental health support to dental screenings, all under one roof.

Seminole County Veterans Services and Community Health coordinated the event, partnering with the Florida Department of Health–Seminole to assemble a broad coalition of service providers. At resource tables throughout the venue, veterans spoke directly with agency representatives about housing resources, employment assistance, benefits counseling, and health care enrollment. Medical and dental screenings were conducted on site, and the day also included meals and haircuts provided through partner organizations.

The breadth of services reflected a deliberate design: rather than directing veterans to navigate agencies on their own, the Stand Down brought those agencies to them. "The event connected veterans directly with agencies and organizations that can provide ongoing support and access to critical services in Seminole County," according to Seminole County Government.

The county framed the event's purpose in unambiguous terms. "Together, the community came together to ensure those who serve our nation know they are not forgotten and never alone," the county stated on its official page.
