Seminole County Warns Residents of Yard Waste Collection Delays Countywide
Yard waste piling up at your curb? Seminole County confirmed a countywide backlog March 23, with haulers adding Saturday pickups to catch up.

Seminole County officials issued a notice alerting residents to delays in yard waste collection affecting some areas, citing a high volume of debris across the county. The public notice, released March 23, came from Seminole County Solid Waste Management, the agency that oversees contracted haulers responsible for residential pickup throughout the county.
Waste haulers are continuing collection efforts and have implemented additional pickups, including Saturday service, to address the backlog. The county's two contracted haulers, Waste Management and Waste Pro, serve different jurisdictions within Seminole County. County staff are also working closely with haulers to monitor progress and support ongoing operations.
Officials expressed appreciation for residents' patience as crews work to manage the increased volume of yard waste as quickly as possible.
The Seminole County Solid Waste Management Division provides collection, recycling and disposal services for unincorporated Seminole County residents and commercial customers via contracted service providers. Residents in incorporated cities such as Lake Mary, Winter Springs, and Altamonte Springs should check with their individual municipalities, as collection contracts may differ. Residents who live within city limits should visit the page of their city's Solid Waste department for more information.
Residents should ensure garbage, yard waste, and recycling containers are placed curbside no later than 6 a.m. on their designated collection day. If haulers have not picked up by 8 p.m., the county advises placing containers back at the curbside the next day or the day following a missed collection.
If a scheduled garbage, yard waste, or recycling collection day falls on a holiday, collection will move to the next regularly scheduled collection day. That rule applies regardless of the current backlog.
The county's Collection Day Lookup tool provides unincorporated Seminole County residents the ability to look up their individual garbage collection option levels and billing units. Residents who are unsure whether they live in city limits or unincorporated Seminole County can visit the My Resident Information page on the county website.
Unincorporated Seminole County residents participate in a tax and assessment district, the Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Municipal Services Benefit Unit (MSBU), that provides funding for the management of residential solid waste.
