More than 50 employers met jobseekers at Seminole State College career fairs at the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus on Feb. 11 and at the Altamonte Springs Campus on Feb. 17, part of a slate of free Career and Technical Education Month events the college is holding select days in February and through March 3, 2026. The college opened health and nursing outreach Feb. 10 at its Altamonte Springs Campus, and will host additional public programming later this week and into March.

Seminole State’s upcoming engagements include Seminole State at Night on Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 4–6 p.m. at the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus to help future students and families explore academic programs and student services, and a March 3 industry event at the Heathrow Campus from 5–7 p.m. focused on construction, interior design and CAD. Earlier events included the Health and Nursing Open House on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 4–6 p.m. at Altamonte Springs, and a Sanford/Lake Mary Career Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 11 from 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. The college also runs Nightbrary, described as a weekly student engagement series that fuses art, games and music.

The college is showcasing career and technical programs in health, public safety, construction, business and information technology during CTE Month. Seminole State lists almost 90 career and technical certificates and more than 200 degrees, certificates and programs; many of those certificates can be completed in 12 months and are upward compatible with an Associate in Science degree. The college cites specific credentials including Associate Project Management, IT Client Specialist, Network Security, Accounting Specialist and Emergency Medical Technician.

Seminole State frames the events as part of workforce initiatives linked to state and regional partners. The college participates in LevelUp Florida, powered by SkillUp, to help workers impacted by COVID-19 gain in-demand jobs, and is a partner with the Florida Department of Education and the Get There Florida workforce education initiative to shorten time-to-credential and start careers sooner. Academic leadership has been active in outreach: Adam Stark, Ph.D., Academic Dean of the Center for Computer, Digital Media & Information Technology, joined local television to detail student programs and initiatives.

Institutional context underpins the CTE push. Seminole State, established in 1965, serves nearly 30,000 students across six Central Florida sites and reports more than 100,000 credentials awarded historically. The college celebrated Fall 2024 milestones when it awarded more than 2,000 degrees and certificates during the Dec. 17 Grad Walk and more than 1,700 students completed credentials that term, including more than 200 bachelor’s degrees in business, construction and interior design, education, healthcare and technology. In December 2024 the college welcomed Hank Glaspie as Vice President of Information Technology and Resources/CIO.

College leaders emphasize employer connections as central to CTE Month. Dr. Georgia L. Lorenz, Seminole State President, said, "By partnering with the Central Florida business community and investing in our CTE programs we are providing students with the latest technology and skills that will prepare them to become successful employees and future leaders." The college reiterates that all CTE Month events are free and open to the community; interested attendees can find event details and campus information on Seminole State’s website and official channels as the schedule continues through March 3, 2026.
