Handcrafted s'mores and banana pudding made their way to Lake Concord Park this month as Sugar Rush Marshmallows joined Casselberry's monthly Food Trucks series, a free outdoor event held every second Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at 95 Triplet Lake Drive.

Owned by Jean and Julie Summers, Sugar Rush Marshmallows will reach its 10-year mark this May. The pair travel Central Florida on weekends, building a brand around what Jean Summers describes as recapturing something most adults have largely left behind.

"Our mission for the business is to give people a little bit of nostalgia," Jean Summers said. "We try to specialize in American-style desserts, whether it's brownies or banana pudding or s'mores. We try to stay around the general marshmallow area. We're trying to help you capture that moment, give you a little bit of a messy face, messy fingers, and just have a good time for a second. We figured a good way to do that would be getting a truck and getting on the road. We really like being mobile like this. It's fun to go to different places and be out."

The truck's menu goes beyond s'mores, offering banana pudding, oatmeal cream pie, and a cereal treat, with prices ranging from five to twelve dollars.

Sugar Rush Marshmallows was among eight vendors listed for the Casselberry Food Trucks event alongside Carlitos Way, Dio Santo Street Pizzeria, Hook BBQ, American Stadium Grill, GringaMex, Stuffed Surfer, and Al's Ice Cream. The series also featured an art showcase and live music, with the Orlando-based rock band Music City Rejects, led by vocalist Heather Cantrell, headlining the February installment. The March 13 event featured Proxima Tide.

Admission to the series is free. The city encourages attendees to bring chairs, tables, and blankets. Parking is available near City Hall and surrounding businesses, with ADA parking located in front of the former Casselberry Police Station off U.S. 17-92. The next event is scheduled for April 10, with singer-songwriter Alana Cavanaugh performing.

The Casselberry Recreation Division can be reached at (407) 262-7700, Ext. 1507 for additional information. The city notes that all events and vendors are subject to change or cancellation without prior notice.
