YMCA Golf Classic Returns March 23 to Raise Funds for Local Programs
The J. Douglas Williams YMCA Golf Classic returns Sunday to Heathrow Country Club, two years after its inaugural event raised more than $40,000 for Seminole County programs.

The J. Douglas Williams YMCA's largest annual fundraiser returns Monday to Heathrow Country Club in Lake Mary, with organizers hoping to build on the inaugural tournament's $40,000-plus haul for local children, teen, and family programs.
The second annual Golf Classic tees off March 23 at 1200 Bridgewater Dr., with check-in beginning at 7:30 a.m., an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m., and a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. An awards ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., with the event running until 3:00 p.m.
The tournament, branded under the tagline "Tee Up for Change," is the family center's signature fundraising event, bringing together community leaders, local businesses and supporters for a single day on the greens with direct impact on YMCA programming across Seminole County. Funds raised support programs spanning every stage of life, from infant services through adulthood.
Executive Director Warren Yon and board member Bruce Wittbrodt appeared on WESH 2 earlier this week to preview the event, underscoring the organization's push to broaden its reach in the second year. Organizers have described the goal as continuing to provide support, development and leadership to the community.

The broader YMCA association that operates the J. Douglas Williams location serves more than 38,000 young individuals across Central Florida each year through early education, sports, leadership clubs, and camps. In 2024, the organization reached thousands of children and teens through before- and after-school programs, swim lessons, and youth sports.
