Holtsville Man Arrested After Knifepoint Robbery at Selden College Campus
A Holtsville man demanded a woman's wallet and jacket at knifepoint inside Suffolk County Community College before fleeing; he was arrested at home hours later.

A 32-year-old Holtsville man was charged with robbery after allegedly pulling a knife on a woman inside a building at Suffolk County Community College in Selden on the evening of March 3, demanding her wallet and jacket before fleeing the campus.
Mitchell Taylor entered the building at 533 College Road at approximately 8:40 p.m., approached a 29-year-old woman armed with a knife, and took both items after she complied with his demands. The woman was not injured. Taylor then fled the scene.
Sixth Squad detectives identified Taylor as the suspect through an investigation and arrested him at his home early the following morning at 1:05 a.m. He was charged with Robbery in the First Degree and held overnight at the Sixth Precinct. Taylor was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 4.
Suffolk County Police issued a press notice describing the arrest stemming from the robbery. No additional details from that release were immediately available.
Robbery in the First Degree in New York involves the use or threatened use of a dangerous instrument, making it among the most serious robbery charges under state law. Taylor's arraignment and any bail conditions set by the court were not immediately confirmed.
