Huntington Station Restaurant Owner Arrested After SLA Finds Billy Club
Suffolk County Police arrested The Three Stars owner after an SLA inspection turned up a billy club; this matters for local safety and the restaurant's license status.

Suffolk County Police, working with the New York State Liquor Authority, the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal and the Town of Huntington Ordinance Inspector, arrested the owner of The Three Stars Restaurant following a regulatory inspection that uncovered a billy club in the establishment.
Officers conducted the SLA inspection at The Three Stars, 118 West Hills Road in Huntington Station, on January 23, 2026. During the inspection investigators found a billy club on the premises and charged owner Henry Contreras Reyes, 40, of Huntington Station, with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a misdemeanor. Contreras Reyes was issued a Field Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on February 11, 2026.
The coordinated visit also produced administrative violations. Town fire and code officials issued five combined Fire and Building Code violations, while the SLA issued three violations related to the inspection. Those enforcement actions may carry separate civil penalties or remedial requirements apart from the criminal charge.
The incident tightens scrutiny on neighborhood restaurants that serve alcohol and host regular patron traffic. For customers and residents near Huntington Station, the discovery raises immediate questions about on-site safety and regulatory compliance at a Main Street area business. The SLA’s involvement signals potential repercussions for the restaurant’s liquor license if violations are not corrected.
Local enforcement agencies cited the collaborative nature of the inspection, with law enforcement, fire safety and code enforcement officials present. That joint approach reflects broader efforts across Suffolk County to ensure businesses meet public safety, fire and building codes as well as liquor authority requirements.
The case will proceed through the First District Court in Central Islip on February 11, 2026. Meanwhile The Three Stars may face administrative follow-up to resolve the cited code violations and SLA violations. The outcome of the criminal charge and the agency reviews could change how the restaurant operates in the coming weeks, including possible restrictions or conditions on its license.
For Huntington Station residents, the episode underscores the role of coordinated inspections in maintaining public safety at local establishments and the importance of visible compliance with fire, building and liquor regulations. County and town officials will monitor remediation and legal proceedings, which will determine both the owner’s criminal case and the restaurant’s regulatory standing.
