Surveillance images from Marshalls at 1762 Old Country Road in Riverhead are now part of a police push to identify a woman accused of stealing $538 in merchandise from the store on March 7. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Riverhead Town Police said the woman is sought in connection with the theft and that the images were released to help investigators track her down.

The case adds to a growing list of retail-theft complaints along the same Riverhead shopping corridor. In December, police publicized a separate Marshalls theft involving about $560 in merchandise. On Dec. 20, a man and woman allegedly stole about $370 worth of clothing from the same store, and another Marshalls case that month involved a woman who may have been working with two other people and took assorted merchandise valued at about $560 at 12:34 p.m. on Dec. 11.

Taken together, the cases show how often Marshalls and nearby Old Country Road stores have been pulled into shoplifting investigations in recent months. The repeated notices have made Riverhead a familiar name in Suffolk County Crime Stoppers roundups, with investigators asking for help again and again as they work through similar retail-theft reports.

Crime Stoppers said tips may be submitted anonymously, and a cash reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone who recognizes the woman in the March 7 theft can call 1-800-220-TIPS, use the P3 Tips mobile app, or submit information online through P3Tips.com. Calls, text messages and emails are kept confidential.

For Riverhead shoppers and store workers, the latest case is another sign that Old Country Road remains a repeated target for petty larceny investigations, with Marshalls at the center of several of the most recent complaints.
